Colossal-Super Black Kajal is the latest launch by Maybelline this year.I think Kajal is the number one essential for every Indian girl. Having tried so many kajal’s before this, most of them end up giving me raccoon eyes. So I had been on a lookout for a kajal that I could use both as eyeliner and kohl. Usually when I am wearing a bold lip (which is very often) I simply use my Kajal on my upper lash line.
Price- INR 300 for 0.35 gms
What Maybelline claims-
I appreciate it when Kajal/kohls’ come in a twist up pen packaging. Firstly , it prevents product wastage and secondly it is way more convenient in general. The colossal Super Black comes in a Black twist-up pen contrary to the yellow of the original colossal kajal.
The Colossal Super Black is extremely smooth and creamy. I have used it on both my upper and lower lash line, and it does not tug even a slight bit. I usually have had problems creating wings with pencil liners but this did not trouble me at all to create a perfect wing.
This Kajal scores well on pigmentation. It is not the blackest of blacks, and I have seen blacker Kajal’s than this one ( Urban Decay 24/7 Glide- on Eye pencil ) but it definitely has the best pigmentation in this price range. A couple of strokes would give you an intense black color.
- As a Kohl ( on lower waterline)
The colossal Super Black works great as a kohl and stays easily for 4-5 hours on my waterline without disappearing or going all over my eyes. I wear contact lens and it has never irritated my eyes, so it is safe for lens users .
- As an Eyeliner-
I have pretty oily eyelids. And since summers are here they tend to oil way more than usual. The previous colossal kajal did not stay well on my eyelids at all, but the New Colossal- Super-Black has definitely improved on those grounds. It stays on my eyelids for about 6-7 hours when I set my eyelids with a compact powder. But on days I don’t do anything for oil prevention it merely stays for 3-4 hours after which it starts to get transferred to my upper eyelids.
How true is the Waterproof Claim?
The Super Black lives up to its waterproof claim and comes off with any oil based cleanser. I personally use coconut oil to remove all my makeup and it comes off just well with it.
Is the Colossal Super Black smudge-proof?
Yes. But even though it does not smudge it does lose intensity towards the end of its wear time. A minor con, which can be easily fixed with a touch-up.
Lets sum up the Pros and Cons –
- Great Pigmentation
- Works well both as an Eyeliner and Kajal
- Stays on for 5 hours easily
- Extremely creamy and smooth texture
- Comes in a twist up pen
- Does not smudge
- Does not fair that well on very oily eyelids
- Starts to lose intensity after 4-5 hours
Yes if you have been looking for a water-proof Kajal which doubles up as an eyeliner you must check this one out. I give it a 4/5.
You can find it online at Nykaa also.
