Red Dress and Backpack – Valentine’s Day Outfit 20

A Red dress is a  Valentine’s staple and why not? Red is the color of love. Personally I really love red. Such a bold and statement making colour when worn right. But the thing with dresses is that you can’t really wear it more than a couple of times without getting noticed. Know what I mean right?

So this V-day I wanted to show you guys two ways to include red in your wardrobe such that you can  style them differently each time.

For my first styling, I have used a red blouse and paired it with a complimenting red pleated midi skirt. The best part is that I can wear both of these as separates any time and I do not have to worry about repeating!

The blouse has a very comfortable fit ( I do not have a liking for anything that is not) and I love its mandarin collar. I would always prefer mandarin over a stand collar. The skirt is a midi length which is very cosy at this time of the season and in vogue this year just like the last. To me, midi skirts just shout classy like nothing else.

The thing to keep in mind when wearing red is to not overdo it. You don’t have to match everything in the same color. The best way to work with monotone outfits is to break the uniformity with neutral or bold accessories.

I went the neutral way adding these very minimal heels that have shimmer details on them. It isn’t gold or silver more like a hybrid of the two so goes with everything. Again you could go with black, but I find black footwear kind of boring.

I did not want to carry a clutch ( might need something bigger to keep all my roses and gifts I thought) so I added this playful and girly white floral backpack.  Backpacks have graced all major spring runways of 2016 so you surely can invest in one. And a girl can use all the space she gets in a bag!

For my accessories I went all gold this time. I used light accessories because because our red combo deserves all the attention. I am wearing a couple of midi rings, my rose gold watch and a forever 21 gold bangle for my arm candy. Finished the look with Pipa Bella gold drop earrings.

I tried this top knot updo and I am so in love with it ever since I saw Deepika Padukone sport it in one of her commercials, keeps your hair out of your face and still makes you look like a diva! Kept the lips a dusty rose with winged liner but it was so sunny that i never took off my RayBan sunnies.

Do let me know how you like the look and what you plan on wearing this Valentine’s day. I would love to know. My V- week is going super so far.

Stay tuned for the second outfit on styling Red!
