Slip-Dress is your best way to combat the heat. I mean its only just April and I am already burning up. So you can only imagine what will happen when June hits us.
Slip-dress has been around since the 90’s owing to how effortless it is to style these up or down for any occasion, but this season just saw them make a Major Comeback at the runways of Stella McCartney n likes.
So today’s post is all about how you can wear these too many times in completely new avatars and be the diva in your college or just be the girl next door on your next date!
I got mine from Top Shop and I love the Diagonal stripes on it.
ANOTHER HIT TREND FOR 2016 is Graphic/Colorful stripes! So experiment as much as you can with them!
QuickTip– If you have a heavier upper body or you want to appear thinner, go for more vertical and closely spaced stripes. Diagonal stripes will also help you a lot!
1. Layer it Lightly
Layering your clothing is not just a winter thing, you can easily incorporate light layers even in your summer style regime. I have layered my Top Shop Slip dress with a military green button-down shirt. The viscose fabric is really comfy on the skin while I was out and about all day, and the shirt also kinda saved me from tanning.
I teamed these with my black block heels and a beige handbag which goes with everything. I am playing accessories to the minimum these days so just added a gold double-ended bangle to finish the look.
Its summer and I am enjoying wearing my bright lip-colors to the optimum. Wearing Hot Pink lips with NYX lip Cream in Addis Ababa.
2. Wear your sheer tops on your Slip dress
Sheer tops have been all the rage for the past couple of seasons. Use them as blouses on top of your slip dress and you are ready with a twin set n it makes your dress look like a skirt.
I have used my white lace top with sheer accents in this super casual look along with my rose-gold laceless sneakers and my Nude tote. Plus I love the glitter detailing on the sneakers.
Finished the look with these Lion earrings which are super quirky.
Tied my hair in a messy plait with nude lips for a change!
3. Go ethnic with a Koti on top
So we all have those ethnic jackets that we got sometime over a Lehenga or a suit. I used my Jaipuri Koti with vibrant multicolour embroidery, over my slip dress. It also kinda defined my bust area and made me look slimmer. Finished the look with a pastel pink mini tote bag and block heels but you can even wear sneakers or ballerinas.
Since I already had statement making colours going on, I went sans-accessories.
4. On top of your Whites
We all own a White shirt or a blouse ( or you could even use your Dad’s oversized white shirt). I have used the same lace top under my slip dress, added tan gladiators and my electric blue mini-tote to finish the look. I wore this look for a lunch date recently and I was so at ease the entire time.
I kept my hair out of my face with a plait, and ever since I got Velvet Teddy by Mac, its all I wear when I am heading out in the day with a winged neutral eye.
5. On its own because it Rocks just like that
This is the easiest it can get. I just threw on my slip-dress, wore heels for that oomph, left my hair open and I was ready to conquer the world. Add an oversized tote if you want or just add a sling and you are good to go !
